UPDATE: Motorist Arrested and Charged After Cyclist Confrontation Erupts in Gunfire
Police have arrested and charged a Florida motorist in the latest high-profile incident involving cyclists assaulted on US roads.

A Florida motorist captured on video swerving his SUV into cyclists before allegedly firing a gun has been arrested and charged, authorities said.
Raimiero Rios, 40, turned himself in to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office days after Saturday morning’s confrontation in Cutler Bay, about 20 miles south of Miami, according to NBC 6 South Florida.
Rios faces one count each of aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. He was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and has since posted $15,000 bond.
According to an arrest report cited by NBC 6, Rios was driving at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday when he began honking at a group of cyclists traveling in the same direction.
Authorities said Rios then swerved his black SUV toward the riders, forcing one cyclist off the roadway before striking the other with the vehicle.

The arrest report states that Rios then brandished a gun and fired one round in the direction of one of the cyclists. Deputies later found evidence of a gunshot fired into the ground. No injuries were reported.
Video of the confrontation shows the cyclists riding along the road as the black SUV approaches from behind and swerves into the group.
A longer version of the video shows the riders traveling two abreast past a sign urging motorists to share the road with cyclists. As the SUV approaches, the cyclists move toward the side of the road.
The vehicle then swerves toward them, forcing the riders to stop. One cyclist is seen slapping the passenger-side window with an open palm.
Rios left the scene before deputies arrived, according to authorities. He later went to a Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office station and turned himself in.
The confrontation is the latest high-profile case involving cyclists and motorists on U.S. roads.
It comes just days after two Milligan University students were killed when a driver struck members of the university’s cycling team during a morning training ride in Tennessee.
That driver was released on $300,000 bond and faces a preliminary hearing August 31.
