Zwift has wiped away the mess left by an unfortunate addition to its new premium subscription tier.
On Tuesday, developers rushed through a “When You Gotta Go” sprint segment and built virtual barriers to distract from “a guy taking a dump” in its new real-world video playthrough.
That’s right.
Images of a rogue pooper had made it onto Zwift’s costly new premium package.
The online training giant rolled out its Zwift Plus tier on a wave of hype and promises of “the most powerful experience to date” last week.
Only Zwift’s costly new model didn’t get headlines for the platform’s first-ever real-life playthrough or personalized coaching system.
On Monday, Zwift rider Sam Sky noticed a figure crouched in the roadside bushes of the virtual Colorado River Sunrise route.
There was only one thing they could be doing – and Sky made sure to point it out on a Facebook post that’s since gone viral.
“Zoom in on the green circle. I saw a guy taking a dump by the side of the road during my session this morning on the new videos,” Sky wrote alongside a now-infamous screencap he shared on the Zwift Ride Owners Group.
A deluge of bad jokes ensued, and as Sky told Canadian Cycling Magazine, “I got a ton of comments on the photo I posted and over 1,000 likes in less than 24 hours.”
Zwift promised to clear up the mess ASAP, and duly issued its hilarious new update less than a day later.

Zwift super-nerd Eric Schlange revealed the new addition Tuesday on his independent Insider website:
“Yesterday, a Zwifter shared in Zwift Riders that they’d spotted someone taking a nature break 4.5km into the Colorado River Sunrise route,” Schlange wrote.
“Zwift responded within a few hours by erecting new road barriers to block the view… and by adding a new sprint segment called ‘When You Gotta Go!’ Amazing.”
Kudos to Zwift.
It dropped the ball by letting a dude do a dump on its biggest upgrade in years, owned the mistake, and added its own touch of humor to clear up the stink.
