The Traka is taking its flagship brand beyond Girona and putting its stamp on a new gravel racing circuit.
Organizer Klassmark will launch The Traka World Series in 2027 to replace the Gravel Earth Series, officials announced.
The new project will include seven rounds, with equal prize money for women and men, and the promise of live broadcasts.
The series is built around growing Traka brand, and will leave several familiar stops from the Gravel Earth Series outside the new-look format.
Stages races Migration Gravel Race and Oregon Trail Gravel Grinder, as well as The Hills and Ranxo Gravel are among the events absent.
The Traka debuted in 2019 in Spain’s Girona region, and has since grown into one of the marquee events on the world gravel racing calendar.
On the back of that success, promoters launched the Gravel Earth Series in 2022. It closed out its final season in 2026 with 11 events across six countries, with Specialized Off-Road teammates Mads Würtz Schmidt and Geerike Schreurs winning the elite titles.
The new slimmed-down format puts the Traka brand front and center.

The move comes after Klassmark partnered this summer with Grupo Godó, a Barcelona promoter behind the Titan Desert and Barcelona Marathon.
The biggest change for fans in 2027 could be the ability to watch live coverage for every round, though details are not finalized.
Prize money will include a series-wide purse of €76,000 (about $85,000), divided equally between women and men in the pro category.
Racing opens at Santa Vall in February. Girona’s Traka anchors the calendar on May 1, with Iowa’s CORE4 and Belgium’s The River among the later stops.
Another event outside Europe in April and a series-ending finale called The Last Dance have venues still to be confirmed.

There are few interesting twists to the new series worth mentioning.
Riders must register as either “pro” or “open” and remain in that category all season. Only pro riders will race for overall standings and prize money, but open riders will be classified in age groups in certain events.
Cross-gender drafting is banned. Pro riders cannot use headphones, phones, or radios, and outside assistance is limited to official zones. Riders may share food, water, and basic tools, but cannot swap out bicycles or other components.
Participation also counts toward future access to the headliner event, now called The Traka Girona. Riders earn one point for each “By The Traka” event completed to count toward entry for the 2028 and 2029 editions.
